It is the ESG committee’s mission to share ESG knowledge with the BVA members. We want to elevate the impact potential of the Belgian private equity & venture capital community on the sustainability journeys of our portfolio companies.

This year we want to organise 4 sessions, each around a specific topic, the ensemble providing the right tools for PE & VC professionals to properly manage ESG at both fund and portfolio level:

  • Session 1: Legislation (the what?). This session presents the most relevant legal reporting requirements for our sector in terms of ESG, both at the level of the portfolio companies (CSRD) and at the level of the investor (SFDR), complemented with testimonials on the SFDR in practice (took place on 20 April – presentations on the protected page of the BVA site).
  • Session 2: Data collection and reporting (the how?). This session will deal with questions on how to calculate, collect and report ESG data in an efficient way, both for portfolio companies and for investors. – 5 June 2023
  • Session 3: Becoming a more sustainable company (the how?, part 2). This session will focus on how to effectuate real change towards more sustainability, again both at portfolio level and at investor level.
  • Session 4: Beyond ticking the ESG box (the why?). In this session we will learn on the intrinsic motivation that people have to strive towards a more sustainable world, and look at the deeper fundamental reasons on why attention to ESG makes so much sense for so many people.
